This POPIA Policy explains how Centurion Palliative & Care Centre (formerly Centurion Hospice) ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and safeguards personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
Who we are
Centurion Palliative & Care Centre is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 030-479, PBO 130004669, PRO104043) providing palliative care, home-based care, medical equipment rentals and community support programmes.
Information we collect
- Contact details you provide via our website forms (name, phone number, email address, message).
- Details required to process equipment rental enquiries, patient referrals, donations and volunteer sign-ups.
- Correspondence you send us by email, WhatsApp or through social media.
- Basic technical information collected automatically when you use our website (for example, pages viewed).
How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and provide the services you have requested.
- To administer equipment rentals, referrals, donations and Friends of Hospice memberships.
- To keep records required for legal, tax and non-profit reporting purposes.
- To improve our services and communicate updates about our work.

We process personal information on the basis of your consent, to perform a service you have requested, to comply with legal obligations, or where processing is necessary for our legitimate interests as a non-profit care provider.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate (such as hosting, email or payment providers), with clinical partners where you have asked us to arrange care, or where required by law.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard personal information against loss, unauthorised access or disclosure.

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above or as required by law.

Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Be notified about the information we hold about you.
- Request access to your personal information.
- Request correction or deletion of your personal information.
- Object to the processing of your personal information.
- Withdraw consent you previously provided.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies. We group them into three categories so you can choose what you allow:
- Strictly necessary (mandatory). Required for the site to function — form submissions, saved consent choices, and admin sign-in when applicable. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics (optional). Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. Helps us understand which pages are visited so we can improve the site. Only loaded after you accept.
- Marketing (optional). Reserved for future advertising or sponsor pixels. Currently unused.
